An exciting part-time contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students. This role offers the flexibility to work primarily onsite near Posen, MI, with virtual (VOCO) options considered. The assignment runs from August 24, 2026, through June 3, 2027 (dates tentative), with a commitment of approximately 5 hours per week.
What Were Looking For:
- Current, active teaching license in Michigan
- Endorsement or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience delivering instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels (K-12)
- Ability to assess and address the educational needs of visually impaired learners
- Comfortable supporting both in-person and virtual instruction as required
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with school staff and families
- Tech proficiency for online learning, if needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and strategies to K-12 students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments, maintain progress documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to meet students visual needs
- Offer consultative support to general education teachers regarding modifications and accessibility
- Serve as an advocate to promote inclusion and accessibility within the educational environment
