Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This full-time position, beginning August 24th and continuing through June 4th, 2027, provides a varied and meaningful itinerary, working across multiple schools in the area near Portsmouth, VA. Youll be instrumental in helping children with moderate to severe vision impairment thrive, utilizing your expertise to deliver direct instruction and support through individualized and engaging interventions.
Your role will include conducting vision assessments, providing personalized instruction in assistive technology, and collaborating closely with classroom educators, special education teams, and families to ensure every student receives holistic support. Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification
- Experience or training with K-12 students, especially those with moderate to severe visual impairments
- Strong skills in delivering assistive technology instruction and adapting curricular materials
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for working with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Organization and flexibility to manage an itinerant assignment across multiple locations
Responsibilities:
