This contract opportunity, located near Portsmouth, VA, begins in August 2026 and continues through the end of the school year, with both full-time and part-time options available to match your career preferences.

Ideal candidates are passionate about fostering independence and maximizing educational access for students with varying degrees of visual impairment. Youll use your specialized expertise to collaborate with fellow educators, adapt curriculum materials, and drive student success through creative, individualized instruction.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active TVI license in the state of Virginia
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel between school sites as needed
  • Comfortable utilizing assistive technology and adapting curriculum for accessibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring lessons to individual needs
  • Assess and monitor student progress, regularly updating goals and instructional approaches
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to create inclusive learning plans
  • Adapt classroom materials into accessible formats such as braille, large print, and audio
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Offer training and support to school staff on best practices in visual accessibility and inclusion
