As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, youll collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to tailor learning experiences and foster independence for students in multiple schools. Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required)
• Proven background teaching or supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in school settings
• Knowledge of best practices in accessibility, assistive technology, and differentiated instruction for visually impaired learners
• Experience developing and implementing IEP goals related to visual impairment
• Excellent communication and consultation skills with staff and families
• Adaptable and resourceful team player eager to work with a diverse caseload

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct specialized instruction and support to K-12 students with visual impairments
• Assess students functional vision and learning needs
• Consult with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, strategies, and materials for accessibility
• Train school teams on use of assistive technology and tools
• Contribute to IEP meetings, write reports, and monitor student progress
• Support transition planning and independent living skill development as needed

This full-time contract runs from August 2025 to May 2026, working 37.5 hours per week with placements potentially in Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
