Job Description

Take your passion for helping students thrive and apply your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic educational environment near Plano, TX. This contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year offers the chance to work on-site supporting a diverse caseload of approximately 12-15 students. As an itinerant educator, youll make a meaningful impact across multiple campuses, ensuring access to education for students who are blind or visually impairedincluding those who are homebound.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Texas certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI)
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and methods for accessibility
  • Flexibility to accommodate a fluid caseload and travel between campuses

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative special education services to students with visual impairments, ages elementary through high school
  • Collaborate with general education staff, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Assess students functional vision and learning needs, making recommendations for accommodations and assistive technology
  • Serve 6 assigned schools, with some students receiving homebound instruction as needed
  • Adjust to caseload changes throughout the academic year, ensuring each student receives appropriate support

This role offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week on a school-year contract, providing the chance to work in a collaborative, supportive atmosphere dedicated to student success.
