Key Qualifications:

  • Hold appropriate licensure and certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with school-aged children who are blind or visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and school staff
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans
  • Willingness and ability to travel to multiple school sites within the county
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and its application for visually impaired students
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments

Responsibilities:

  • Travel between assigned schools within the county to deliver direct instruction and consultation
  • Conduct assessments to determine student needs and provide recommendations
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and accommodations
  • Collaborate with special education staff, general educators, and related service providers
  • Support families and teams in understanding visual impairment and associated educational implications
  • Maintain progress reports and documentation in compliance with school and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning
