Job Description

Empower students with visual impairments to thrive in their academic journeys as a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving Glendale, AZ and surrounding communities. This full-time contract position runs from early August 2026 through late May 2027 (dates subject to adjustment), offering the chance to make a lasting impact within schools while growing your professional experience.

Bring your expertise in supporting visually impaired learners to a collaborative educational environment, where your guidance and adaptability will shape student success. As a TVI, youll design accessible curriculum, promote independence, and tailor instruction to meet individual needs.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Educator Certification required
  • Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FP Card)
  • Prior experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a similar role within a school setting
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and Braille
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in both self-contained and mainstream settings
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
  • Assess students needs and recommend adaptive equipment and tools
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on progress and resources
  • Advocate for students needs across educational settings
