Job Description

Make a lasting impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a welcoming educational environment near Peabody, MA. This contract opportunity is offered for the full academic year from September 1, 2026 to June 14, 2027, with both full-time and part-time schedules available to work onsite. Youll work collaboratively with staff to help students who are visually impaired develop essential skills and foster independence within the classroom setting.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired and have successfully completed the MTELs
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments in a school-based setting
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive and assistive technologies for visually impaired learners
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to tailoring educational plans and supports to each students unique needs

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and other strategies to enhance access to curriculum
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and other professionals
  • Assess students abilities and monitor progress, adjusting supports as necessary
  • Advocate for an inclusive and accessible learning environment
