Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a vibrant educational setting near Andover, MA. This contract role offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time hours for the 2026-2027 school year, running from September 1, 2026 through June 14, 2027. Use your expertise to ensure learners with vision impairments receive the instruction, guidance, and accommodations necessary to thrive academically and personally.
Qualifications:
- Active Visually Impaired Teacher (VI) License
- Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) license
- Successful completion of MTELs
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of accessible instructional methods and adaptive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and educational staff
- Commitment to fostering inclusivity, empowerment, and accessibility in education
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to provide strategies, resources, and training to support student success
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments using Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Provide direct instruction tailored to visual impairments, encompassing academic skills, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Serve as a vital resource and advocate for students and families
