Job Description

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts Teacher for the Visually Impaired License
  • Active MA Department of Education license
  • Successful completion of MTELs required
  • Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher or in similar adaptive education settings is preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to create and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual student needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to facilitate inclusion and accessibility
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) specific to visual impairment needs
  • Integrate technology and adaptive tools to support students learning and independence
  • Assess and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
  • Engage with families and guardians to foster student success
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines
