Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Proven experience working with children or young adults who have visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille and adaptive technology for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Passion for fostering independence and confidence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct students with visual impairments using both traditional and assistive methods
- Assess student needs and develop tailored strategies to support academic progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to modify materials and curricula
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the educational environment
- Guide and support families, providing resources and strategies to reinforce learning outside the classroom
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student evaluations
