Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
- Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and alternative communication methods
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with students, staff, and families
- demonstrated ability to create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting materials to meet their unique needs
- Assess student progress and collaborate on IEP development and implementation
- Consult with educators and staff to foster accessibility and inclusion
- Teach students adaptive skills to support academic achievement and daily living, including orientation and mobility as appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with educational standards
