Job Description

This full-time contract opportunity for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) allows you to provide specialized instruction and advocacy, working collaboratively within the school community for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Hold a current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or meet state licensure requirements for TVI.
  • Experience providing individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments.
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and adaptive materials for visually impaired learners.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academics, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and use of assistive technology.
  • Consult regularly with classroom teachers, staff, and families to support student learning and inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and communication logs as required.
