Key Skills & Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Demonstrated experience working with students ages K-12 who are blind or visually impaired
• Strong knowledge of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families
• Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to varied visual abilities
• Experience developing customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is preferred

What You'll Do:

• Assess students functional vision and learning environments to guide instructional planning
• Develop and implement tailored lessons in core academics, orientation & mobility, and independent living skills
• Advise and collaborate with classroom teachers to modify materials and teaching strategies
• Support families in understanding student needs and advocate for appropriate accommodations
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and services provided
• Stay current with best practices and innovations in visual impairment education
• Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student is empowered to succeed
