Job Description
Bring your expertise in supporting visually impaired students to a fulfilling contract role situated near Osseo, MN for the 2026-2027 school year. In this rewarding position, you'll provide both direct and indirect instructional services for approximately 23 students, including one Braille learner, across a diverse educational environment. Your skills will play a crucial role in enhancing access and educational experience for students who are blind or visually impaired.
Desired Qualifications:
- A valid Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) special education teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
- Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, including adapting curriculum and delivering individualized instruction
- Knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Flexibility and the ability to collaborate effectively with general and special education staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instructional time for approximately 23 students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials; support one student who is actively learning Braille
- Provide consultative services to classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning
- Track and document student progress, maintain compliance with IEP goals, and participate as a resource in IEP meetings
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages student independence
