Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff
- Solid understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and orientation & mobility strategies
- Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet student needs
- Comfortable working with diverse student populations and multiple grade levels
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and within classroom settings
- Assess functional vision and create tailored instructional plans
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility
- Modify classroom materials and recommend appropriate accommodations or assistive technology
- Track student progress and document services in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines
- Engage with families to promote strategies that reinforce learning outside of school
