Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff
• Solid understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and orientation & mobility strategies
• Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet student needs
• Comfortable working with diverse student populations and multiple grade levels

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and within classroom settings
• Assess functional vision and create tailored instructional plans
• Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility
• Modify classroom materials and recommend appropriate accommodations or assistive technology
• Track student progress and document services in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines
• Engage with families to promote strategies that reinforce learning outside of school
