Job Description

This full-time teaching role is based near Miami, FL, offering an opportunity to work as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) within a supportive, co-teaching environment. The caseload is divided between two classrooms, each serving approximately 10 students, focusing on direct instruction and comprehensive support for blind and visually impaired children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in braille and assistive technology to students with visual impairments.
  • Support instructional staff in implementing classroom accommodations and adapt learning environments to meet students needs.
  • Provide braille instruction support and outreach to families.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and update client assessments in database systems.
  • Offer early intervention support aligned with client goals.
  • Engage in staff conferences, community fairs, and curriculum adaptation based on evolving needs and professional development.
  • Maintain professional accreditation and licensing, continuously updating expertise as required.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Experience working with visually impaired children in educational settings.
  • Strong skills in braille instruction and adaptive technology.
  • Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and support teams.
