Job Description

Step into a dynamic role supporting students with visual impairments across K-12+ settings in the greater Chattanooga area. As a contract Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), youll have an opportunity to make a significant impact on students lives, working either on site or virtuallyif you bring at least five years of dedicated experience delivering TVI services in a remote learning environment.

This assignment offers a mix of general education and special education caseloads. Youll collaborate with educators and families, use assistive technology, and help shape IEPs using the TN Pulse platform. The itinerant caseload is divided geographically to minimize travel between assigned locations. Full-time schedules are available (35 hours per week), with consideration given to part-time availability.

Key qualifications:

  • Active DOE certification required
  • Familiarity with Braille and assistive technology essential; experience with Federal Quota program a plus
  • Proficiency in Chromebooks as instructional tools
  • Minimum five years of experience for virtual candidates
  • Experience supporting both general education and multiply disabled student populations
  • Ability to collaborate in IEP meetings and confidently navigate digital platforms

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments (K-12+)
  • Support integration of assistive technology and individualized learning materials
  • Participate actively in IEP development and implementation
  • Travel to multiple assigned schools within the district as needed, with a focus on efficient routes
  • Complete all credentialing and fingerprinting requirements promptly
