Job Description

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and adaptive equipment
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work alongside educational teams, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt materials and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Prior experience in a school setting is highly valued

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt curriculum and learning materials
  • Conduct assessments to determine students functional vision and create goals for instructional progress
  • Advocate for students access to resources, technologies, and support services
  • Consult with staff and parents to foster an inclusive and accessible school environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and program implementations
