Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Deep understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and families
• Compassionate approach and patience when working with students with varying needs
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school setting

Responsibilities:

• Assess the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments and develop tailored lesson plans
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility, and use of adaptive technology
• Work in partnership with classroom teachers to integrate accessible learning strategies
• Recommend and facilitate the use of assistive technology and equipment
• Conduct regular progress monitoring and maintain detailed documentation
• Serve as an advocate for student accessibility and inclusivity throughout the school environment
• Consult and communicate consistently with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student goals
