Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with children or adolescents with varying levels of visual impairment
• Proficiency in Braille instruction and assistive technologies for the visually impaired
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to create and adapt lesson plans to meet students unique needs
• Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Assess students abilities and design strategies to foster independence and academic progress
• Teach Braille and the use of adaptive equipment and technology
• Consult with general education teachers, families, and staff to ensure an inclusive classroom experience
• Monitor, document, and report on student progress
• Provide direct and consultative services to students across a variety of grade levels
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student self-advocacy
