Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technology and Braille
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with identified visual impairments
  • Assess students abilities and determine appropriate adaptations and accommodations
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to create accessible learning environments
  • Develop individualized materials using Braille, large print, or other assistive formats as needed
  • Train students in the effective use of assistive technology
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to team discussions
  • Monitor, document, and report on student progress toward educational goals
