Empower students with visual impairments to reach their full potential in a supportive school environment near Olathe, KS. This contract position calls for a dedicated professional ready to make a real impact by providing specialized instruction, advocacy, and individualized support for learners with vision challenges.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology and Braille
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with identified visual impairments
- Assess students abilities and determine appropriate adaptations and accommodations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to create accessible learning environments
- Develop individualized materials using Braille, large print, or other assistive formats as needed
- Train students in the effective use of assistive technology
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to team discussions
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress toward educational goals
