A full-time Teaching opportunity is available for a qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Nottingham, MD. This role supports K-12 students attending a specialized school for the blind, providing essential educational services tailored to their unique needs. The position requires active Maryland TVI licensure and involves a standard five-day workweek.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid MD TVI licensure
- Experience working with visually impaired students, ideally in K-12 settings
- Strong knowledge of specialized instructional techniques and adaptive technologies for children with visual impairments
- Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to develop individualized learning plans
Location and Schedule:
- Position based in Nottingham, MD
- Full-time; five days per week
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction adapted to the needs of students who are visually impaired
- Assess students visual abilities and academic progress regularly
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Train and guide educational staff and families on vision-related accommodations and strategies
- Utilize assistive technology and braille as appropriate
