Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) supporting students in a vibrant school for the blind near Nottingham, MD. This full-time, contract opportunity offers the chance to guide and empower K-12 learners, helping them achieve their goals and develop essential life skills. Youll work collaboratively with general education staff and other specialists, creating individualized learning experiences that foster independence and self-confidence.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland TVI (Teacher of Visually Impaired) licensure required
- Experience or training with K-12 students in educational settings
- Strong understanding of specialized instructional methods and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for making education accessible and meaningful
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in a school-based setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum materials to meet the unique learning needs of each student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to promote student success
- Utilize Braille and assistive technology, teaching students essential skills for academic and life goals
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and progress reporting
