Make a difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a full-time, contract opportunity. This itinerant role offers the chance to work with school-age students across multiple schools within Delaware County, allowing you to apply your expertise while traveling between various educational settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), or eligibility for certification
- Previous experience supporting school-aged students with visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for county-wide travel
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for teaming with educators, students, and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned schools across Delaware County to provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Assess students needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to their strengths and challenges
- Deliver instruction in Braille, use of adaptive technology, and independent living skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials and instructional strategies for accessibility
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate updates to IEP teams and families
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students and their support systems
