Job Description

This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work with K-12 students in the Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Suffolk areas for the 2025-2026 school year. Youll work alongside dedicated educational teams to deliver tailored support, helping every student access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required)
  • Experience in supporting students with vision loss within a K-12 school setting
  • Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and the specific needs of visually impaired learners
  • Ability to work seamlessly with general education, special education staff, and families
  • Proficiency in adaptive technology and Braille
  • Positive, student-centered approach with excellent communication and collaboration skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Assess student needs and collaboratively develop IEP goals
  • Design and deliver individualized interventions and accommodations
  • Instruct students in appropriate use of assistive technology and Braille
  • Serve as a resource to staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
  • Advocate for students and participate in eligibility, IEP and team meetings
