Job Description

A contract position is available for a skilled educator passionate about fostering independence and success for students who are blind or visually impaired. This role starts in August 2025 and extends through May 2026, offering the chance to make a positive, lasting impact throughout the school year.

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, youll work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with students across multiple school sites. This dynamic setting provides variety and the ability to collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals, all focused on promoting learning and inclusion.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (non-negotiable requirement)
  • Demonstrated experience or training in education for students with visual impairments
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching methodologies to meet individual student needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills to navigate diverse school environments and caseloads

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in K12 settings
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide support in assistive technology and accessible materials
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to foster student achievement
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and district requirements
  • Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities
