Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Texas, or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of best practices for working with visually impaired students in educational settings.
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with teachers, therapists, families, and administrators.
• Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and accessible instructional materials.
• Compassionate, patient, and adaptable mindset.

Responsibilities:

• Assess students unique needs and develop customized instructional strategies.
• Deliver direct and consultative services to students, both one-on-one and in group settings.
• Collaborate with IEP teams, contributing expert recommendations to drive student growth.
• Provide training and support on adaptive equipment, Braille instruction, and accessible materials.
• Guide staff and family members on supporting students learning and independence.
• Maintain thorough progress records and participate in meetings as needed.
