Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
  • Familiarity with braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Strong collaborative skills, working effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and teaching methods

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student
  • Provide direct instruction in core academics, orientation and mobility skills, daily living skills, and use of assistive technology
  • Modify and adapt classroom materials to ensure full accessibility
  • Partner with classroom teachers to deliver inclusive educational experiences
  • Consult and communicate regularly with families, support staff, and related service providers
  • Maintain timely, detailed progress reports and documentation per district guidelines
