Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • State certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
  • Experience working with children and adolescents who are visually impaired or blind
  • Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, and adaptive instructional materials
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP) for students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students visual functioning and educational needs
  • Design and deliver individualized instruction using adapted materials and technology
  • Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
  • Provide orientation and mobility support, partnering with related service providers as needed
  • Track student progress and collaborate with families to celebrate achievements and identify areas for growth
  • Participate in IEP meetings, ensuring advocacy for students unique needs
