Qualifications and Experience:
- State certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with children and adolescents who are visually impaired or blind
- Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, and adaptive instructional materials
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP) for students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual functioning and educational needs
- Design and deliver individualized instruction using adapted materials and technology
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
- Provide orientation and mobility support, partnering with related service providers as needed
- Track student progress and collaborate with families to celebrate achievements and identify areas for growth
- Participate in IEP meetings, ensuring advocacy for students unique needs
