Step into a fulfilling summer opportunity supporting students with significant needs as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract assignment runs from June 8 through August 4, 2026, with consistent hours Monday through Thursday, 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM, totaling 20 hours per week. You will work with a caseload of 10-15 students ages K-12all housed within a single building for focused engagement and meaningful collaboration.
This position is within a specialized ESY (Extended School Year) program designed for a setting 4 school district serving students with severe behavioral and physical disabilities. Your expertise will provide critical support to students who are blind or visually impaired, fostering independence, inclusion, and access across all learning environments.
What youll bring:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Previous experience working with students who are blind or have visual impairments.
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and provide targeted interventions.
- Familiarity with assistive technology for the visually impaired.
- Experience supporting students with significant behavioral or physical needs is highly desired.
- Strong communication, teamwork skills, and commitment to individualized education.
Your daily impact:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultative services to students, focusing on the expanded core curriculum.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including special educators, therapists, and families.
- Develop and implement IEP goals in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Utilize assistive devices and modify materials to ensure accessibility.
- Provide guidance to staff and families on best practices for inclusion and access.
