Job Description

Located near Miami, FL, this full-time travel opportunity seeks a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized educational support to blind and visually impaired children within a co-teaching environment. The caseload is approximately 20 students, divided between two classrooms of about 10 students each, offering a dynamic and engaging professional experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in braille and assistive technology tailored to visually impaired students.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to implement necessary accommodations in the learning environment.
  • Modify classroom settings to enhance accessibility and learning opportunities.
  • Support families by providing braille instruction and outreach services.
  • Participate actively in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to advocate for student needs.
  • Provide early intervention services aligned with client goals.
  • Contribute to various Childrens Programs, adapting curriculum materials to meet diverse needs.
  • Maintain current professional licenses and pursue continuing education.
  • Update client assessments and document findings accurately using appropriate database systems.
  • Engage in staff meetings, community fairs, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Florida Department of Education license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Experience with braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a co-teaching environment.
  • Strong communication skills to support both instructional staff and families.
