Empower students with visual impairments to thrive by taking on a meaningful contract opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the Miami Beach area. In this full-time role, you will provide specialized educational support in a collaborative co-teaching setting. The caseload is distributed between two classrooms, each consisting of approximately ten students. You'll play a pivotal role in helping students develop essential skills, promoting independence, and ensuring academic success.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Florida Department of Education license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience providing direct Braille and assistive technology instruction
- Ability to collaborate in a co-teaching environment
- Skilled at developing and implementing accommodations and adapting classroom environments
- Strong interpersonal skills for supporting students, families, and fellow instructional staff
Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction in Braille and technology to students with visual impairments
- Guide classroom staff in the application of accommodations and modifications
- Support families with Braille instruction and resources for continued learning at home
- Attend IEP meetings, provide assessments, and keep documentation current
- Participate in outreach, early intervention, and community events to further program goals
- Adapt curriculum materials based on the latest research and student needs
- Maintain all required professional credentials and participate in ongoing training
