Job Description
A full-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) near Miami Beach, FL, supporting two classrooms with approximately 10 students each. This contract role involves working in a collaborative co-teaching environment dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired children through specialized instruction and support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct instruction in braille and assistive technology tailored to students needs.
- Assisting instructional staff in implementing accommodations that enhance the learning environment.
- Adapting classroom settings to facilitate effective learning for visually impaired students.
- Providing braille instruction support and resources to families.
- Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to advocate for student goals.
- Offering outreach support and training for children and families.
- Delivering early intervention services aligned with client objectives.
- Supporting various childrens programs as required.
- Maintaining professional credentials, including Florida DOE TVI licensure, through ongoing education.
- Updating client assessments and recording outcomes in relevant database systems.
- Engaging in staff conferences, community events, and curriculum adaptation efforts based on evolving client and professional needs.
Qualifications:
- Florida DOE Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure is mandatory.
- Experience in braille instruction and use of assistive technologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a co-teaching setting.
- Strong communication skills for working with families and educational teams.
- Commitment to professional development and maintaining accreditation.
