Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Current teaching certification with the appropriate endorsement for Visual Impairment (TVI)
  • Experience providing instruction and support to students who are blind or have low vision
  • Familiarity with adaptive technology, Braille, large print, and other accessible instructional materials
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with general education teachers, families, and support staff
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, and a passion for inclusive education

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each students unique learning needs
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for classroom accommodations
  • Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive technology
  • Consult with educational teams to integrate appropriate modifications and tools into the mainstream classroom
  • Monitor student progress and document growth in accordance with IEP goals
  • Offer professional development and resources for teachers and families on best practices related to visual impairment
