We are seeking a dedicated Braille Transcriptionist for a full-time contract opportunity from mid-August through June. Youll play a vital part in ensuring students have full access to academic content by translating educational materialsincluding textbooks, assessments, and classroom handoutsinto Braille. This position is based in a respected secondary educational environment and involves close collaboration with Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVIs) to promote accessibility and support student success.

Key Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least one year of experience operating Braille typing or transcription equipment
• Certification as a Braille transcriber is preferred
• Experience working in educational settings, or supporting students with visual impairments, is highly valued
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students

Primary Responsibilities:

• Accurately transcribe print materials into Braille formats for students in a secondary school setting
• Work closely with TVIs to review curriculum needs and prioritize materials
• Support classroom accessibility by ensuring timely delivery of Braille resources
• Assist with adapting educational content to meet individualized learning plans
• Maintain confidential records and comply with state and federal guidelines
• Employ adaptive technology and tools relevant to Braille transcription
