Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Texas certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and specialists
- Passion for fostering independence and advocating for accessible learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction designed for students with visual impairments from kindergarten through 12th grade
- Develop and implement effective learning plans, adapted materials, and appropriate modifications
- Assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure inclusion and support in the school community
- Train staff on best practices, adaptive equipment, and accessibility to empower students
- Advocate for student needs during IEP meetings and contribute professional recommendations
