Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Prior experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
  • Strong communication and consultative skills to work with educators, families, and service providers
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate on goal setting, and monitor student progress
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school setting

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments
  • Assess student abilities and collaborate on the creation of IEP goals and accommodations
  • Provide support and consultation to classroom teachers and instructional staff on best practices for accessibility and inclusion
  • Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and technology tools specific to vision support
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress to families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure full participation and safety
  • Remain current on best practices and advancements in the field
