In this contract opportunity based near Manhattan, KS, youll collaborate with school teams to deliver meaningful instruction and adaptations for individuals with visual impairments. Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Strong communication and consultative skills to work with educators, families, and service providers
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate on goal setting, and monitor student progress
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school setting
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Assess student abilities and collaborate on the creation of IEP goals and accommodations
- Provide support and consultation to classroom teachers and instructional staff on best practices for accessibility and inclusion
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and technology tools specific to vision support
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress to families and multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure full participation and safety
- Remain current on best practices and advancements in the field
