Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments during the 20262027 school year. In this contract opportunity, you will provide essential instruction and support to learners with visual needs in a welcoming school environment near Lowell, MI. This onsite role lets you work closely with families, educators, and other professionals to help students successfully access curriculum, build independence, and achieve their educational goals.
Your expertise in special education for visually impaired learners will be key as you deliver individualized instruction and contribute to student IEPs. As a valued collaborator, youll play an integral part in fostering a supportive learning environment that empowers each student to thrive.
What were looking for:
- Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or similar role
- Appropriate teaching certification or licensure in visual impairment special education
- Thorough understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Dedication to fostering student growth and independence
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments according to IEP goals
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
- Assist with adapted materials, technologies, and modifications for curriculum access
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing documentation
- Advocate for the needs of visually impaired students within the educational community
