Job Description
Make a positive impact on students by providing specialized instruction and support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Andover, MA area. This contract position offers flexibility with both full-time and part-time hours available, spanning the academic year from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid and active Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License, including MA Department of Education (DOE) certification
- Successful completion of MTELs
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired in school settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to adapt curriculum and deliver instruction with accessibility in mind
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across a range of grade levels
- Assess students functional vision and devise individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Adapt and modify classroom materials, technology, and resources to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraeducators, therapists, and families to promote student success
- Support training in Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and contribute to IEP meetings
