Job Description

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced educator specialized in supporting students with visual impairments. The role involves working directly within a school environment to provide tailored instruction and support that meet the unique needs of students who are visually impaired.

Location: Lowell, MA
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: ASAP through June 18, 2026
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time options available
Work Setting: Onsite only

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting teaching methods and materials to ensure accessibility and comprehension
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
  • Utilize assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning experiences
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly to support academic and developmental goals
  • Maintain compliance with state guidelines and best practices for educating visually impaired students

Qualifications:

  • Active Visually Impaired Teacher license and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MA DOE) license
  • Successful completion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching students with visual impairments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
