Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials.
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate approach to supporting diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students, adapting lessons and materials to suit individual educational plans.
  • Assess student abilities and develop strategies for academic success and independent functioning.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to modify curriculum and classroom environments for accessibility.
  • Train students in the use of Braille, specialized devices, orientation and mobility skills, and other assistive technologies.
  • Offer consultation and guidance for teachers and staff to support inclusive practices.
  • Document progress, report data, and actively participate in IEP meetings.
