What Youll Need:
- Certified as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or closely related field
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting is highly valued
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to individualize educational strategies to meet diverse learner needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, accessible instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Assess student abilities, develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and monitor progress
- Collaborate with general and special education teams on adaptations, modifications, and accessible materials
- Instruct and support students in the use of Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and assistive devices
- Partner with families to support learning at school and at home
