Job Description

Opportunity for an experienced Visually Impaired Teacher to support students in a school setting in Los Angeles, CA. This contract position offers the chance to apply specialized skills in visual impairment education, helping students develop independence and academic success through tailored instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide specialized instruction in orientation and mobility, Braille, assistive technology, and daily living skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.
  • Utilize adaptive materials and resources to meet students unique needs.
  • Monitor and document student progress regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential with a specialization or certification in visual impairment or blindness.
  • Experience working with students who have visual impairments in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate diverse learners.
