Job Description

Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Denver area. This contract position offers the chance to positively impact students' educational experiences by providing specialized instruction and support. Assignments may vary by campus, with caseload and specific job details to be determined as the district finalizes internal placements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction plans for visually impaired students across various age groups
  • Collaborate with general education staff, families, and other service providers to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt curriculum materials, lessons, and teaching strategies to support student accessibility and engagement
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate accommodations or technology
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing progress monitoring and case management
  • Travel between school sites as assigned and required

Qualifications:

  • Current and active CDE (Colorado Department of Education) certification required
  • Experience teaching students who are visually impaired, preferably within school settings
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Ability to complete timely state and district-mandated background checks and fingerprinting
  • Strong communication skills and genuine commitment to supporting diverse learners
