Job Description

Youll work directly with a caseload of 20-23 students, each presenting their own diverse backgrounds and abilities, helping them thrive academically and personally.

Qualifications:

  • Current and active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certifications required
  • Demonstrated experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, braille instruction, and adaptive instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Availability for onsite work, 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with varying degrees of visual impairment
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and support personnel
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust lesson plans as needed
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with student needs
  • Advocate for necessary accommodations and accessible materials
  • Provide consultative support to teachers and families to ensure successful student integration
