Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students with a range of visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and accessible curriculum adaptations
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, educators, and families
- Ability to assess and document student progress, recommend interventions, and customize materials
- Passion for fostering independence and confidence in students
- Adaptability to serve a variety of student needs across different educational environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate on accommodations
- Educate school staff and peers on strategies for inclusion and accessibility
- Conduct regular assessments and maintain accurate records of progress
- Advise on and facilitate the use of technology and resources to enhance learning
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and outreach activities
