A professional opportunity is available for a Visually Impaired Teacher located in Lexington, KY, to serve in a school setting on a contract basis. This role focuses on delivering specialized education and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring they have access to an inclusive learning environment tailored to their needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide instruction in specialized skills such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technologies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to create classroom accommodations and modifications
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Offer direct support and resources that enhance students learning experiences
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children who have vision disabilities in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille and assistive technology tools
- Ability to develop tailored educational plans and work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and staff
