Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with K-12 students with a range of visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and accessible curriculum adaptations
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with students, educators, and families
  • Ability to assess and document student progress, recommend interventions, and customize materials
  • Passion for fostering independence and confidence in students
  • Adaptability to serve a variety of student needs across different educational environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support to students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate on accommodations
  • Educate school staff and peers on strategies for inclusion and accessibility
  • Conduct regular assessments and maintain accurate records of progress
  • Advise on and facilitate the use of technology and resources to enhance learning
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and outreach activities
