Job Description

Empower visually impaired students by providing specialized instructional support and expert guidance in a contract role serving multiple educational settings. Ideal for professionals skilled as Teachers of the Visually Impaired, this position offers flexible engagement, with approximately 5 hours per week distributed across 45 school sites. While on-site presence is preferred, there is openness to a virtual/VOCO model following a successful demonstration.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Georgia TVI certification required
  • Proven experience teaching or consulting for visually impaired students
  • Expertise in braille instruction and adaptive technologies
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams and age groups
  • Ability to travel between multiple school locations as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to four students each week and provide consultative services to an additional four students
  • Create individualized educational strategies and adapt materials for visual accessibility
  • Collaborate with IEP teams to ensure compliance and optimal support for students needs
  • Support at least one student who is totally blind and uses braille, adapting all academic content accordingly
  • Provide guidance to school staff on accommodations, technology, and best practices for students with visual impairments
  • Document student progress and communicate effectively with educators and families
