Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity working with students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired! This contract position, serving middle and elementary school students, blends direct and indirect therapy services with case management and progress trackingall in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Currently, this position offers part-time hours for the remainder of the school year, transitioning to full-time in the next academic year. Working with a manageable caseload of 7 students, youll have the unique chance to foster growth and independence in learners who need your expertise.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Georgia Teacher of the Visually Impaired License
  • Bring at least 2 years of relevant teaching experience
  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices for instructing visually impaired students in school settings
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Maintain organized records and provide clear, timely progress updates

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Oversee and manage student cases, ensuring compliance and quality individualized support
  • Track student progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to enhance student access and inclusion
  • Promote Braille literacy, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills where appropriate
