Make a real impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract role gives you the chance to collaborate with education professionals in a welcoming school setting in Andover, MA and surrounding areas. Whether you prefer a full-time or part-time schedule, youll find flexibility alongside meaningful work supporting students growth and independence.
What Youll Need:
- Active Visually Impaired Teacher License and MA DOE License
- Successful completion of MTELs (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Knowledge and use of adaptive technology, braille, and orientation & mobility resources a plus
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong sense of empathy and dedication to student advocacy
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored instruction to visually impaired students in individual or group settings
- Adapt curriculum materials to meet student needs, incorporating braille or large print
- Assess and document student progress, collaborating with IEP teams and families
- Support classroom teachers and staff with strategies and tools for visual accessibility
- Advocate for inclusion and equitable learning opportunities within the school community
- Provide training and guidance on assistive technology and adaptive devices
- Participate in professional development and ongoing education
