As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will provide specialized instruction and support for students throughout the Hartwell area. With a manageable schedule (6-7 hours monthly, 1 day per week), this role offers the chance to help students unlock their potential while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Active Georgia licensure for Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience or training with students who are visually impaired, preferably within the K-12 framework
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate with school teams and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional material for students with a range of visual needs
  • Passion for helping students develop independence and reach their academic goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify the unique needs of students with visual impairments across K-12 grade levels
  • Provide direct instruction, resources, and accommodations to enable access to curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and administration
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Consult with families and staff on best practices and assistive technology solutions
