Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors or masters degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification with endorsement for Visual Impairment
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, across various grade levels
• Proficiency with Braille, Nemeth Code, and assistive technology (screen readers, magnification devices, etc.)
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
• Willingness to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, accessible instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
• Create and modify lesson materials using Braille and large-print formats
• Conduct functional vision assessments and provide input for IEP team meetings
• Train students and staff in the use of assistive technologies and adaptive equipment
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
• Contribute to the development of effective learning environments that foster independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth
